Mesh aperture sized for monsoon rain.
Mackay does not get gentle drizzle. It gets 100mm in an afternoon when a monsoon trough sits over the coast. A mesh aperture chosen for a Melbourne backyard will shed that volume of water straight over the front edge of the gutter and onto your patio. We fit a 2mm to 4mm aperture aluminium mesh that lets heavy tropical rain through while still blocking gum leaf, sugarcane ash and seed. Getting the aperture wrong is the single most common reason a previously fitted guard fails here.
Coastal salt air and tropical UV.
Homes from Slade Point through to Bucasia sit in a marine corrosion zone off the Coral Sea. Mild steel and untreated mesh rusts within a few wet seasons, and cheap black polypropylene guard goes brittle under Mackay’s UV load and cracks. We specify marine-grade or powder-coated aluminium mesh and stainless or aluminium fixings so the guard outlasts the roof, not just the warranty period.

Properties inland toward Marian, Mirani and the Pioneer Valley sit in bushfire-prone and cane-fire country. During the dry-season burns, embers land in gutters full of dry leaf and start spot fires.
